Today, 21st September is World Alzheimer’s Day 2023.

My family have a very personal connection to this tragic disease. From the number of private replies, I received to my post last week on LinkedIn about my father’s Alzheimer’s journey – it’s clear so many of my connections here are also impacted.

So in the spirit of raising awareness:

❓What is it?
Alzheimer’s is the most prevalent form of dementia, affecting 50-60% of cases. It robs patients of memory, mobility, communication, self-care, and dignity before a slow death

🧠 Some Data:

* 1 in 4 people think there is nothing we can do to prevent dementia

* But 40% of cases of dementia could be delayed or reduced with preventive lifestyle changes

* Yet 75% of people globally with dementia are undiagnosed

* Alzheimer’s starts developing 20-30 years before symptoms show up

* So your lifestyle today could effect your brain decades later. Which is scary, but also empowering!

It means we can start influencing our future brain and delay cognitive decline from today.
