ATTENDEE COMMENTS
The events provide an excellent opportunity to make interesting and valuable connections, all while maintaining a relaxed and informal atmosphere. It’s a welcome departure from the typical corporate gatherings, and what’s even more appealing is that we’re also doing some good in the process.
What’s particularly convenient is that these events are usually just a stone’s throw away from the office, making it easier to manage around our work commitments. – it’s fairly common for guests to step out for a quick drink in between evening calls!
It’s been a pleasure to be a part of these events that blend professional networking with a sense of community and social impact.
Throughout my tenure with the Singapore chapter of Room To Read, I couldn’t recommend Sital highly enough as a partner for supporting noble causes like girls’ education. He possesses the unique ability to host events for large groups while seamlessly adapting to the diverse personalities and cultures present. We were fortunate to have him by our side.
Even though I don’t drink, I have no issues attending these drink events. It’s not just about drinking (unless you want to!). I get to meet new and interesting people informally, enjoy some tasty bites, all while contributing to a good cause.
We are all so busy, but I believe we still have the capacity to do good. These events provide a simple and enjoyable way to do just that!
During the Global Financial Crisis, Sital used to host networking events with drinks and snacks in London’s financial district These informal gatherings brought City professionals together to meet and connect.
Rye Barcott coined the phrase “talent is universal; opportunity is not”. For many girls and young women today that opportunity is not accessible. Creating access to education empowers females in rural locations. In a generation my own mother went from not being allowed to complete High School in India, to having three children that went to UK universities.
I appreciate the immense challenges they face in gaining access to education and financial literacy, which are vital for a successful future.
We all have causes that resonate with us, the demands of children, work, and life often make it challenging to contribute as much as we’d like. However, thanks to events like this, we’re given opportunities to participate, raise awareness and contribute. The venue is less than five minutes from my office. It was as simple as coming down, enjoying a drink, connecting with like-minded peers, availing of an opportunity to do “sevva” and hopefully shaping a brighter future for these girls.
Professional networking is important, despite knowing this it’s not something I gravitate towards. However, connecting through the fun, informal events for a really worthwhile cause expanded my network. I’ve been a mentee, mentor, and sponsor, building mutually beneficial partnerships. Building better futures takes villages, I’ll definitely be participating and contributing to the causes that these events give us all the opportunity to support.
I’m from Portugal – as the Portuguese saying goes, “A união faz a força” (Unity is strength).
Social events can help us unite to do something valuable. But what makes these events truly remarkable is that, as someone who typically shies away from corporate networking events, I’ve found them to be refreshingly different. My passion lies in empowering the next generation of Asian girls, and working alongside Sital and our organizing team to unite people for this cause has been a truly rewarding journey.
These gatherings are far from typical networking events. Instead, they’re fun, informal get-togethers where you’re guaranteed to see familiar faces in Singapore’s close-knit community, all while making new and fascinating friends. Amidst the laughter, we always manage to accomplish something meaningful in the process.
