Enjoyed co-hosting an APAC CHRO drinks evening recently with 50 HR leaders in Singapore.
Unlike previous events, this was a private event exclusively for Chief HR Officers and senior HR leads, in partnership with Elliot Scott HR Search & Selection and Workvivo by Zoom.
A special thank you to Paul Watson and the Elliot Scott team for curating such a strong HR community and bringing leaders together. Thanks also to the Workvivo by Zoom APAC team and Anglo Indian Café Bar for their generous partnership.
We raised funds through raffle sales and a kind donation from the venue, all supporting Dress for Success Singapore, who help disadvantaged women return to the workforce through career coaching, interview support, and professional attire.
I supported Dress for Success Singapore in their early days (2015) with developing some of their early career programs, and it’s been inspiring to watch how their impact has grown over the last decade.
My favourite comment of the evening:
“I almost didn’t come today because I find networking events uncomfortable – but this felt different: relaxed, informal, and a great way to connect with peers whilst helping a great cause.” – An APAC CHRO
The evening reinforced a few truths:
- Connection: people still want to meet in person and connect beyond screens.
- Convenience: time is short, so informal, easy-to-join gatherings in accessible locations work best to drop in/drop out.
- Purpose: when “doing good” is made simple, people are eager to support.
That’s why we host these events – to bring people together, create community, and support meaningful causes. Look out for upcoming events soon!
